Thanks for encouraging your students to get involved in the Trash My Ad 2 competition and create anti-litter print and video ads to target their peers.

Students under 18 are eligible to enter these categories of the competition:

  • Print ad or poster : Primary School -$500 cash prize
  • Print ad : Secondary School- -$500 cash prize
  • 30 second TV ad : Secondary School ( no primary school category) $1000 cash prize

Ideas for ‘talking rubbish’ with your students

The competition is a great opportunity to engage your students in a debate about litter or as an adjunct to a litter prevention program in your school. Keep Australia Beautiful WA can assist you to develop the discussion about litter and connect to a range of curriculum areas.

  1. Access your free school resources -

    Learning about Litter (K- 7)

    This primary school teacher’s guide is complete with 10 lessons linked to the WA Curriculum Framework, games and extras and a recommended reading list. It is available to order in print or CD Rom format.

    Marine debris education kit (secondary students)

    Using a grant received from Keep Australia Beautiful, Tangaroa Blue Ocean Care Society has developed a resource to educate students about catchments and the effect of litter on the marine environment. It is suitable for secondary and upper primary students and is linked to the Western Australian curriculum.

  2. Tackle litter through a litter prevention program at your school

    Download a copy of the Schools Litter Prevention Toolkit for tips and ideas on introducing a litter management program at your school. There are activities and case studies to assist you to develop your program.

  3. Organise a school or community clean up

    Organise a school clean up day or join the Adopt-a-Spot program to keep a site in your community litter free (WA program only). Keep Australia Beautiful can provide free clean up resources and tips on how to organise a safe, effective clean up.
